Train Travel Tips

If you are traveling by train in Europe, there are some things you should know about. To actually plan your trip, take your questions to the information desk, not the ticket counter. The ticket seller does not have time to answer your questions. Before you head to the ticket counter to purchase your ticket, know first if you will need an international ticker or a national one. Always ask if there are any specials that you can take advantage of for your trip. Sometimes you might take a slower train to save yourself some money. Don’t 

forget to ask about senior or student discounts too. If your tip will be a long distance one, then you will have a train with a cafe care or a

restaurant. Regional trains will usually not have any food or drinks.

If you have reservations, then you will know which car to board. If you are late, you can certainly jump on any car and then work your way to the car that you belong on. If you are without reservations, you can sit anywhere that is not marked by a slip of paper telling you it is already taken.
